Don’t be afraid to try something new πŸŒ±

Hello my naturalistas! I’m sorry I’ve been MIA! With school and work, I’ve just been so busy. But I’m writing to let y’all know this AMAZING experience I had today. Okay so as many of y’all know (from reading previous posts) that I do wash&go’s. Well up until today, I used creams to style my hair with my wash&go. I’ve had bad experiences with gels and just didn’t like how they made my hair feel. Well although I liked using creams, there was some cons that I didn’t like.

Cons of creams I’ve used

  1. Makes your hair white
  2. Takes forever to air dry
  3. Because of the consistency, my hair was constantly dripping

Those are the 3 cons I personally had with creams, but I did like how my hair looked when it dried. But today I tried a new product and was amazed at how well it works! 😱😱😱 now it is expensive, but to me it’s definitely worth it! It’s Design Essentials Natural Honey Curl Forming Custard! When I tell you i absolutely LOVE this product now! The consistency is not too thick, to me it doesn’t have that “gel” feel and doesn’t make your hair hard. My curls are so defined (creams defined my curls too) and soft! My hair also hasn’t shrunk with this product (well not yet, I hope it doesn’t) nor is my hair white while I’m letting it air dry (like creams usually are). The only downfall with this product is the price is $15 & the jar is so tiny! I’m hoping eventually they’ll sale it in a bigger size.

Well i just wanted to let y’all know about my amazing experience. Feel free to comment whether you use creams/gels or if you’ve tried this product.

Twist out part 2

Hello everyone! Sorry I’ve been MIA. I have been busy with school and work. I have news though. So yesterday I washed my hair and decided to try a twist out again. I tried a twist out once before and I was unsatisfied, but I wanted to see how it would go this time. IT WAS AN EPIC FAIL. Now I will say, my twists were big and I didn’t have that many of them, but still. I was really hoping the second go around was going to be successful and I could switch between twist out and wash and go’s. I will only be doing wash and goes for now on. I just wish youtubers wouldn’t make it seem so easy when they’re doing theirs, when it’s totally not. Well you know what they say “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”. What works for someone else may now work for me. No one’s hair is the same and I’m okay with that.

Growth 🌱

Hello everyone! I was going through my hair photos and was realizing how much my hair has grown. Last week I took a photo after I washed my hair (usually I take photos on wash days to record growth) and I was amazed at how long my hair is (now when it dries, that’s a different story because of shrinkage). My hair feels so healthy and next week will be 1 year and 5 months since I big chopped my hair. Time has flown! I’m looking forward to my 2 year mark to see how long my hair will be then. Of course length doesn’t mean everything because I like my hair to be healthy as well.

Below is a picture of my growth from September 2017 to last week Feb 2018

Wash Day πŸ˜…

Before I was “natural”, I never put much thought into washing my hair. I would just wash my hair, condition it, blow dry it, then flat iron it. Simple. It would only take 30 minutes maybe an hour at the most. But when I went “natural”, everything was completely different. I literally have to plan when I will wash my hair. I have to make sure I have hours of free time in the day, make sure I don’t have school or work and that I don’t plan on going anywhere that day. I literally have to have a whole day off just to wash my hair. Don’t get me wrong, I love washing my hair. I just never would’ve thought it would be so time-consuming. I prefer wash and go’s so a wash day for me consists of: shampooing my hair 2-3 times, a hot oil treatment w/q-redew steamer (15-20 min), deep condition w/q-redew steamer (30 min), leave in conditioner, oil, then styling product (LOC method). After I apply my styling product, I finger rake it through my hair (which takes me an hour to do) and then let it air dry.

These are pictures of my hair after I apply my styling product.

As you can see, my curls are loose when my hair is wet and when it dries, it coils up like the picture below that I’ve previously posted.

Feel free to comment what your wash day consists of 😊
